5 fun ideas to celebrate Colleagues Day

On the first Thursday of April, the Netherlands celebrates National Colleagues Day! It is a chance to show your appreciation for your favorite colleague(s) and to receive appreciation yourself. To help your creative thinking along a bit, we have put together a list of 5 fun ideas to celebrate Colleagues Day.

1. Treat your colleagues well

Whether you bake something yourself or buy it at the supermarket, everyone loves a little treat during the break! Share your treats individually or just leave them in the break room. An easy way to give your colleagues an extra special day.

2. Organize an after-work drink

Having nice colleagues makes your workdays a lot better. Why not invite them for a drink on Colleagues' Day? Getting together outside of work is a great way to get to know each other better and talk about completely different topics than you normally do.

3. Write it down

Write your appreciation on a card or note and leave it somewhere your colleague(s) can find it. You might need to be a little creative here, especially if your colleagues don't have their own desk. Maybe you can stick a post-it note on their lunch, slide a note into their locker, or put a card under their car's windshield wiper. It feels good to be appreciated – see how it can put a smile on someone's face!

4. Divide it into a story

If you (and your colleagues) are familiar with social media, make a Story of Status to show your appreciation for them and tag your colleagues in it! You might quickly gather a whole lot of appreciation messages!

5. Helping a colleague

Does your colleague have a task that is difficult to finish? See if you can help them! If your work doesn't allow for that, you can always get them a cup of coffee or listen to their problem during the break. Who knows, maybe you can share some advice!
